It was a beautiful Saturday morning when I followed a friend’s company outing to Sg. Chilling. It was a trip full of adventures as we had to do jungle-trekking and river-crossing before we could reach the Chilling Waterfalls.
In order to reach there, you have to drive to Kuala Kubu Baru and the trail head is located 21 kilometers from Kuala Kubu Bharu on the road to the Gap. After passing the Selangor Dam, you cross the bridge on the Chiling river. Just after this bridge you can park you car. Follow the road for about 100 meter, the trail head is clearly indicated. This was the first crossing of the Chilling River with a newly built suspension bridge recently.
We had to do an adventurous trek for about one hour and fifteen minutes in order to reach the Chilling Lower Falls. The trail is quite clear and it follows the river bend. Just remember to cross at least 5 rivers before you reach the falls.
Before I forget, a good pair of sandals as you can see from the above picture would be more appropriate than any japanese slippers. You wouldn’t want to soak your pair of Nike or Adidas sneakers into the muds and rivers.
This is the second crossing. All of us were prepared to get wet and mind you, there might be some leeches around as the trail may get muddy at times.
The third crossing seems more dangerous as there were many slippery rocks in the river. It will be tough for the children to cross too.
The fifth crossing was even tougher and the adults had to tie a rope on each end in order for the kids to hold on as they crossed the river.
It may looked shallow, but it is not. The water level was at my hips and seriously, it will be challenging for the children.
Here we are at the Chilling Lower Falls.
We didn’t manage to go to the second falls and the upper falls because there were too many children with us.
Did this picture above turned out good? I was practising my photography skills.
As you can see, it has a large pool for a good swim. Nevertheless, Chilling Falls is simply beautiful, and perhaps one of the best you can find in the state of Selangor.
I would wanna visit Chilling again. Anyone wants to go with me???
Meet Mr Fatty Leech (I hate leeches!!!)
Mr Fatty Leech has just sucked tons of blood from my friend’s upper thigh (right) and left a big hole there.
Poor guy. How did the leech manage to climb to his upper thigh?
