In continuation of my previous post on Our Honeymoon: Lake District, I decided to write more about our next destination of Old Trafford.
After spending three relaxing days in nature, we returned to Manchester to drop off the rental car at the airport.
Our missing suitcases had also finally arrived at our hotel on the same day we got to Manchester. It was a little tough to survive at Lake District without the things we needed in the missing suitcases.
Those words were exactly describing how I felt when I first stepped onto the grounds of Old Trafford two years ago in 2009.
Maybe you will not understand why the sudden rush of adrenaline in my body but only a true Manchester United fan will be able to feel the way I felt.
Earlier this year, my hubby presented me with the best honeymoon gift – A VIP hospitality package for the both of us to enjoy the match between my all-time favorite football club Manchester United and its eternal rival Liverpool at the Old Trafford.
The tickets were bought as part of the VIP hospitality package provided by Manchester United for tourists.
This package cost an arm and a leg! The fact is, this package cost about 350GBP (580USD) for the both of us. Did your eyes pop out? Mine surely did!
I was definitely smiling from ear to ear. How can I be sad? I was having an opportunity of a lifetime to watch Manchester United playing LIVE at Old Trafford itself.
All those who bought the VIP hospitality package were seated at the North West Quadrant Tier 2. To me, it was definitely the best seats ever. The view was perfect.
It was barely even one minute after the match began when the referee blew his whistle. It was a penalty kick for Manchester United! Ryan Giggs smashed the ball right into the goal and I was screaming away with the other spectators!
Jaw-dropping. Eye-opening. Adrenaline-pumping.
GOAL!!!!!! Manchester United 1 – Liverpool 0
Though Manchester United was leading by 1 goal, I was definitely hoping for more goals to celebrate. The atmosphere in the Theatre of Dreams was definitely superb and it was what we expected, an intense rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United.
Unfortunately for the Liverpool fans, their hopes crashed even further when Steven Gerrard was red-carded at the 38th minute. As much as Manchester United came close to scoring again, it never did. However, it wasn’t necessary to secure a win!
Ahh, did I mention that the VIP Hospitality Package comes with a 3-course lunch?
The steak was just decent, but it was more than good enough for hungry wolves like me. The bacon and sausage enhanced the steak nicely.
And not to forget, there was a free flow of wine too! See how happy Mike was. *winks*
This was definitely one of the best days in my life and I must thank my hubby for this golden opportunity.
For now, I will be watching United in action on TV or the internet until I save up more $$ in the future for another round of LIVE matches. That day will come, but not for a while!
