As believers, we were taught many things on how to be Christlike. Nevertheless, many of us actually failed to be even close.
As Gandhi mentioned before, “I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians.” This sentence shocked me, in a way that I have to believe that too many Christians out there are just living a life. In brief, you would call them Hypocrites!
I asked myself this question again and again. How many of us actually pick up the Bible and read it regularly? Let’s exclude the pastors and priests out of this question. How many of us read His word daily? I can be ashamed of my own truthful answer.
Children in this world need food for biological growth. Christians (children of God) need His word for spiritual growth. That is a matter of fact. We need His word to nourish our minds and souls.
I have been malnourished for too long. I am tired of just being a weekend Christian, who picks up my bible only on Sundays. I need a change in my life! I am unquestionably starving for His grace and His word. The more I read, the more I want to know what would happen next. And the more I read, the more I understand why He allowed things to fail.
Just like in the book of Genesis, it shows us how humanity has failed because sin entered the world. And because of the failed humanity, the book of Exodus shows us how humanity can be redeemed by God’s salvation. And from there, the book of Leviticus shows us how humanity worship God for redemption. Then in the book of Numbers, we learn how humanity serve God as part of the worshiping.
Isn’t this amazing? I have never perceived His word in such a way. Definitely not when I was craving for materialism and eyes of the world. Genesis and Exodus were like children bedtime stories to me. But now, it shows me how these prophets of God (Abraham, Jacob, Moses) portray their unshaken and unbreakable faith in God’s promises. Isn’t this awesome?
Well, if you have not been reading His gracious words, why not do it today? I’m encouraging you to pick it up for His glory will shine in your life. For all you know, you will be inspired by any verse or chapter that you read!
