What is a better way to kick start a brand new year than spending my 1st wedding anniversary with my dear husband in the mountains of Shenandoah Valley?
The picture above was taken after a 3 minute walk from the inn that we stayed at. Isn’t the view spectacular? Appplewood Inn is a highly recommended Bed and Breakfast for those who want to embrace the beauty of nature and experience the llama trekking.
Aren’t these llamas cute?
Who named this animal LLAMA? I am curious because I just find this word funny. Llama, Llama, Llama, Llama…. (Oh my, I thought I was doing some chanting.) You see what I mean?
We also drove to Natural Bridge, which is approximately 15-20 minutes away from Applewood Inn.
Natural Bridge is a geological formation located in Rockbridge County, Virginia. The formation has carved out a gorge in the mountainous limestone terrain, forming a beautiful arch 215 ft (66 m) high. It is indeed a natural wonder and deemed by the Europeans as one of the wonders of the world during the 18th and 19th centuries.
This is really beautiful. We are absolutely amazed at God’s creation and the arch formation is simply wow… amazing!
We went for a little walk along the trails after passing the arch. Being surrounded by nothing but the nature was a magnificent way to start the year.
The very next day, we drove to the entrance of The Blue Ridge Parkway. This parkway has more than 200 Overlooks. They range from scenic picnic areas, to vast mountain ranges, to the mountain hiking trailheads.
We stopped at a few scenic overlooks to snap some shots quickly as it was freezing with the strong winds. At one point, the temperature was recorded as -6 degrees Celcius. That was absolutely frosty and I could hardly breathe.
I know, this is hilarious. My good friend called me a terrorist for wrapping up myself like that. I can’t help it. It’s simply too cold.
Guess what? These little moments are memorable because it is my anniversary escapade with my beloved husband.
