Since I was pregnant, I developed no interest for my sanctuary of cooking. The pungent smell of garlic or stir-fried whatsoever would make me so nauseous that I would just throw up endlessly. And due to that, my hubby had been missing out a lot of homemade Malaysian food, especially his favourite Nasi Lemak and Chicken Curry.
As my previous entry mentioned, we were in Philly for the weekend and my hubby was craving for Malaysian food. Thus, we visited Banana Leaf restaurant for lunch and subsequently, Penang Restaurant for dinner. Both of these restaurants which are located in Chinatown of Philly, serve decent and affordable Malaysian cuisine at similar prices.
My hubby, without a doubt, had Nasi Lemak for lunch and dinner while my cravings for Ipoh Curry Noodles gnawed me to have it for both meals. A plate of Nasi Lemak is reasonably priced at $6.50 while a bowl of curry noodles cost about $7.85.
However, I prefer Penang Restaurant’s to Banana Leaf’s because of the fragrance of the curry.
OH well, being in overseas, I must say both curry noodles are unquestionably up to Malaysian standards, but not to the ones with Ipoh taste-buds like me. As you probably have guessed it right, I grew up with Ipoh curry noodles and I still could not find something which is similar to Ipoh’s style.
I guess I just have to wait another 10 months before tasting my favourite Ipoh Curry Noodles again. 🙂
