HELLO FINAL TRIMESTER!
This is it. I am in the home stretch and the final trimester starts with Week 28.
According to babycenter website, if I am like most women, I will gain 11 pounds this trimester. ^*#@!$*$@!&!^$#
I have already gained 22.2 pounds as of today and they want me to gain another 11 pounds. Really? 11 pounds? I am so off the range soon!
Little AnnaKate should be weighing about 2.25 pounds and she will learn to blink her eyes at Week 28. Isn’t this awesome? My little explorer will be blinking and responding to the light and dark. She is also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. Her skeleton and muscles are maturing quickly too.
I have been playing a lot of piano, singing and even placing headphones around my belly on Sunday worship sessions. She does respond actively to music. I definitely gonna plant more musical genes in her.
I can’t wait for my ultrasound scan and my doctor’s visit this Friday. I want to know if my placenta has shifted upwards according to the uterus’ growth.
I had a call from her yesterday. The good news is I passed my glucose screening test and I have no diabetes detected. Amen to that! But, she mentioned that I have to double up my iron intake due to a low hemoglobin count.
I’ve gotta admit that I am feeling quite sluggish lately. I do maintain a religious 8.5 hours of sleep every single night, yet I feel horrible in the daytime. I guess the symptoms of low hemoglobin are kicking in. Fatigue, lack of focus, shortness of breath, and palpitation are the common ones.
What can I do to increase my hemoglobin count? Google says, decrease calcium intake to allow better absorption of iron. Of course, I have to consume food rich with iron. And for the better absorption rate of iron, increase intake of vitamin C and folate. This means I should say hello again and again to spinach, eggs, beef and red dates!
My mom and some of my friends who just became mothers encouraged me to boil more Red Dates (with slow cooker) to enhance my hemoglobin count. This will also ensure the mother and baby to have rosy cheeks with the boost of hemoglobin. OH well, oh well!
Oh dear Heavenly Father, only You can help me to go through this stage. I am feeling tensed and it’s hard to breathe at times. Help me to increase my Hemoglobin count with whatever herbs and food I’m consuming.
