I made my lifetime second attempt of homemade Char Siu (BBQ pork).
The last time I made it, I used a pound of pork butt. This time, I chose pork belly instead. I wanted to have the juicy taste of both lean and fats of the pork.
It’s quite easy to make. All you need is sugar, salt, honey, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper powder to marinate the pork. Try to marinate it overnight if you have the time. Otherwise, marinate at least 3 hours before you bake it in the oven.
Oh, remember to preheat the oven at 400 degrees F before you put your marinated pork into the oven. Do flip your pork to the other side every 15 minutes, thrice, to avoid the top part over-roasted.
Based on the calculation, your pork should be ready by 45 minutes.
Slice them up in whatever size you prefer and you are all set to devour your homemade Char Siu!
Who doesn’t love pork? LOL! 🙂
