It is once again unbelievable how time flies seeing how I am observing my fifth Fourth of July this year. It seems like yesterday when I shared the pictures we took last July Fourth.
Nonetheless, on this very historical day, America celebrated her 239th anniversary of declaring independence on July 4th, 1776 and regarding herself as no longer a part of the British Empire. Although I was not born in the USA, I am forever grateful for what America’s founding fathers have done for this nation.
For this year’s July Fourth we visited Fredericksburg Battlefield Park. We continued the tradition we started last year, which is to visit a battlefield park to learn a little more about American history.
We are pretty sure Annakate doesn’t quite grasp the concept of history at her age. However, if we keep visiting at least once each year, hopefully it will spark some interest.
You know the old saying: those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.
