Christ is Risen!
Blessed Resurrection Sunday from our little family of four (dressed at its finest before attending the Easter service)!
I always find it a little uncanny to relate Christ’s resurrection to Easter. I tried to google and wiki the origin of Easter, and discovered that there are two types of calendars to mark the ‘Easter’ date – Julian and Gregorian calendar. The western world follows the Gregorian calendar while the orthodox and eastern churches use the Julian calendar.
And of course to be exposed to the culture of Easter bunnies and egg hunts in America is a whole different story altogether as I did not grow up with such traditions in Asia.
The church which I previously attended when I was of school age in Ipoh would usually observe Maundy Thursday (where we washed each other’s feet and shared the last supper), Good Friday (remembering how Christ died on the cross for us), Holy Saturday, and Resurrection Sunday (a grand service).
Anyway, I will avoid these unnecessary differences across cultures.
The most vital part is we are all celebrating the ultimate fact that Christ is Risen!
We are able to live freely today because Christ has died for our sins and we are raised with Christ together.
The power of sin is broken. We are no longer chained with shackles of darkness. We are transferred to the Kingdom of Christ.
Can I get a shout of Hallelujah?
And today, we had the opportunity to look at Mike’s paternal grandfather’s masterpiece. Isn’t this beautiful? He was such a talented painter.
And yes, if you haven’t had a chance to hear O Praise the Name (Anastasis) by Hillsong Worship, here is the lyric video which I scouted from YouTube. It is one of my top favorite resurrection songs.
